Former Grand Slam champion Andy Roddick has backed Jessica Pegula to overcome Coco Gauff in their all-American quarterfinal at Wimbledon on Tuesday.
Roddick shared his analysis on the Served Podcast, noting that Gauff played her best match of the tournament in the fourth round against Belinda Bencic.

“Coco played her best match by far,” Roddick said, adding that she adjusted her style effectively after an unconvincing start.
Gauff dropped two sets in her first three rounds against Tamara Korpatsch, Solana Sierra, and Claire Liu before facing Bencic.
“I thought she looked very average through her first three rounds,” Roddick said.
“The old choppy style in the middle of the court was not going to work against Bencic.”
Roddick praised Gauff’s tactical changes on grass, including improved volleying and a new forehand approach.

“She hit the ball better than she had and she volleyed like a wizard in the third set,” he said.
Despite Gauff’s improved form, Roddick believes the court conditions and historical matchups favor Pegula.
“I still like Jess in that matchup,” Roddick said.
Gauff leads the head-to-head 5-3, but they have split their two previous grass-court meetings.
