Navratilova asserted that tightening these equipment margins would revive classic playing styles that have largely vanished from the modern game.

"So I would make the sweet spot a bit smaller to put more premium on precision, taking pace off the ball and then you would see more serve and volley and people coming to the net more," said Navratilova.

Scheduling and Team Competitions

Beyond equipment modifications, Navratilova addressed systemic scheduling issues affecting major international team competitions like the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup.

"I think every two years, every four years it has to be not in the Olympic year because that already throws tennis into a tailspin, because it throws the calendar so much," said Navratilova.

The former Fed Cup champion stated that decentralizing the final tournament locations would help engage fans globally.

"I think I really like them playing in different countries to spread the wealth, so people that are in smaller countries have the chance to watch great tennis and really get emotionally involved," said Navratilova.

Navratilova recalled her own playing career to highlight how the meaning of international team events can change based on the host venue.

"Because when you just play one event in one city, it kind of loses something.
