According to a report by the Independent, the president stated that 111 missiles were fired at the USS Abraham Lincoln and successfully intercepted.

Officials indicate Trump confused Japan with Iran following recent hostilities involving Iranian forces attacking a U. S.

carrier.

The misstatement occurred during remarks regarding the collapse of a ceasefire and subsequent U. S.

military strikes against Iranian targets.

"Islamic Republic of Japan," Trump said, referring to the country.

"Scum," Trump said, referring to Iranian leaders.
