Several local motorists in West Philadelphia and surrounding communities immediately stopped at the stations after noticing the steep drop in pricing.
"Less money coming out of my pocket finally," said Atif Oberlton, of West Philadelphia.
Drivers noted that the unexpected discounts provided immediate assistance for their daily commutes and work schedules.
"I said, 'Oh, let me pull over and get some gas before I go to work prices are finally dropping,'" said Lynnae Myers, of West Philadelphia.
Local business owners also welcomed the financial relief, citing that high fuel costs had severely impacted operating expenses throughout the year.
"$3.47 a gallon is a Godsend, honestly," said Steve Wyrenski, a local landscaping business owner.
Wyrenski noted that his company had been unable to pass the financial burden onto consumers. "Gas prices have been crazy this year, as you know.
It really adds up to what we have to charge our customers because we can't really pass it on to anybody else," Wyrenski added.

Other residents praised the business acumen behind the initiative, noting that the pricing format successfully caught the attention of passing commuters.
"I don't know what the state taxes in Pennsylvania are that are added on to it at all.
But all I know is that it really, as far as it goes, you can't beat the price," said Herbert Meyers, a local resident.
Meyers expressed strong support for the policy approach despite any personal disagreements with political rhetoric. "Trump's the man.
