Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan is set to become the temporary manager of the Uruguay national team, according to The Guardian.
The appointment follows the departure of previous manager Marcelo Bielsa after Uruguay's disappointing World Cup campaign ended in elimination.

Uruguayan Football Federation (AUF) president Ignacio Alonso confirmed that the 47-year-old is enthusiastic about the role, with a formal agreement expected to be finalized within hours.
Forlan will remain in temporary charge of the senior national side until March 2027 while simultaneously managing the under-20 team.
Forlan's Playing and Coaching Background
The former forward scored 36 goals in 112 international matches for his country.

His career highlight includes winning the Golden Boot during Uruguay's run to the 2010 World Cup semi-finals before his international retirement in 2014.
Prior to this international appointment, Forlan's managerial experience consisted of two brief club stints.
