The 20th anniversary edition of the NL Contest international urban culture festival officially commenced on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the newly renovated Rotonde skatepark in Strasbourg, France.
The five-day event, running through Monday, May 25, 2026, showcases elite international action sports and urban arts.

Global athletes from countries including Brazil, Canada, and Japan are participating in competitions across BMX, rollerblading, skateboarding, freestyle scooter, parkour, breaking, and graffiti art.
The festival also features scheduled musical concerts and dozens of exhibitor stands.
Urban Sports Demographics and Infrastructure Growth
French government data from the Ministry of the Interior indicates that 2.5 million French citizens regularly practice rollerblading.
However, sports licensing figures from the French Federation of Roller and Skateboard reveal that urban disciplines remain predominantly male, with men accounting for 81 percent of registered members.
The expansion of the festival aligns with a broader infrastructure boom across the Alsace region.
In August 2025, a 900-square-meter roller sports park was inaugurated in Schiltigheim, followed by a facility launch in Burnhaupt-le-Haut in April 2025.
Young athletes have begun utilizing these spaces, including a new training area established in April 2026 at Strasbourg's Citadelle Park.

Besides, I don't want to put on more protection because it bothers me when going down the skatepark bridges," said Nils, a seven-year-old scooter rider training at Citadelle Park.
