BMW recently gave VIP guests the opportunity to test its armored vehicles, including the X5 SUV and 7-Series sedan.

The event allowed drivers to compare these models directly with their standard counterparts.

While many associate armored cars with third-party specialists, BMW has been building its own for over four decades.

The German brand spares no expense to ensure its armored vehicles meet high standards.

Last month, BMW invited 67 participants from eight European countries to test these vehicles.

The attendees were from the private sector and were considering purchasing an armored BMW or a fleet.

Performance Under Pressure

BMW wanted to demonstrate that its armored 7-Series and X5 perform well despite weighing significantly more than standard models.

Participants drove them alongside regular 740d, 750e, X5 50e, X5 40d, and X5 M models.

Attendees also experienced emergency braking in corners and off-road driving to test the X5's limits.

The event took place at BMW's development center in Sokolov, with trained instructors from Germany and the Czech Republic.

BMW launched its current 7-Series and X5 Protection models in 2023.

The X5 offers VR6 ballistic protection, while the 7-Series achieves a higher VR9 rating, capable of withstanding attacks from firearms and explosives.

The armored 7-Series is powered by a mild-hybrid 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.
