The Dallas Mavericks have added Spanish point guard Sergio de Larrea to their roster following a swift trade with the New York Knicks.
The move came right after the Knicks selected him 25th overall in the NBA Draft on June 24, 2026.

De Larrea, 20, has drawn attention for his unusual height of 1.98 meters while playing the point guard position.
His rapid rise from youth basketball in Valladolid to the professional ranks has been notable.
Valencia Basket sports director Chechu Mulero closely followed De Larrea's development. "Already in minibasket they told me that Larry's son played very well," Mulero recalled.
During the pandemic, Valencia Basket provided De Larrea with a personal trainer to complete his growth while he was still a cadet in Valladolid.
He later signed formally with the club's youth system, L'Alqueria.
Mulero added, "I saw him in many training sessions and it was already sensed that he was going to be a great player in Europe."

De Larrea made his EuroLeague debut at age 17 against Anadolu Efes.
He eventually earned a regular spot on Valencia's first team under coach Pedro Martinez and won the Spanish Supercup MVP title in September.
His progress also earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team.
He made his senior debut in June 2024 under coach Sergio Scariolo and later participated in the EuroBasket tournament.
Mulero noted, "Playing in the NBA depends on many factors although he has the quality."
