Onyenso expanded his offensive game during his senior year, making 10 of 36 attempts from three-point range after attempting only one perimeter shot across his first three college seasons.
According to Synergy advanced metrics cited by The New York Times, he made 72.5 percent of his field goal attempts at the rim in half-court settings, establishing himself as an efficient interior finisher and pick-and-roll asset.
Reflecting on his journey, Onyenso expressed gratitude for the opportunity at Virginia.
"To be honest, I thought I was gonna play for a low major coming out of Kansas State," he told the Herald-Leader.
"But it's all about giving me a shot. Opportunities.
You feel me? And I really thank my coach at Virginia for giving me a shot."
He credited the coaching staff for allowing him to showcase his versatility.
"It's about playing for a team, playing for a coach, that's gonna let you play a little bit," Onyenso said.

"So fortunately for me, my last year at Virginia, the coach, he let me shoot the ball a little bit."
