"I would say I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into," she said.
"I knew of a few people that had been and gone through the college route, and a lot of them said they loved it.
The team environment and things like that."
Off the court, Dudeney manages her routine by spending time with family, reading, and baking sweet treats.

She revealed she was born without a sense of smell, a condition discovered during childhood by her mother.
"That's often why I stick to sweet treats because I think everything looks good," she explained.
Dudeney advocated for the US collegiate path, saying it prepared her for the daily rigors of traveling alone as a professional.
"I had the best time out there. It was definitely a very valuable experience for me," she said.
"When I finished last May I was ready to travel on my own and the daily grind of what the tour consists of, which I definitely wouldn't have been able to do at 18."
She is filling the vacancy left by her childhood training partner Sonay Kartal, who is sidelined with a back injury.
Dudeney draws motivation from Kartal's previous fourth-round Wimbledon run.
"It's especially motivating – 'I can do that' – but also as a friend it's just really heartwarming to see her do so well," Dudeney said.
The tournament fulfills a childhood aspiration for Dudeney, who used to collect player signatures as a young fan at Eastbourne.
"It's every British player's dream to play Wimbledon. It's such a magical place," she said.
Following her recent competitive standard, Dudeney maintains a positive outlook regarding the level of competition at the All England Club.
"When you haven't played the bigger tournaments and you go in not knowing what it's like, you can think the level is so much higher than it actually is," she said.

"But then, once you actually get here and play it, you're like, 'Oh, these girls are really good but it's not a crazy different level to what you're used to.'"
