The announcement came on Monday, June 29, 2026, less than 24 hours after British No. 1 Emma Raducanu also pulled out of the Grand Slam tournament.

Draper had recently shown strong form during his grass-court preparations, reaching the semi-finals at Eastbourne after returning from a previous injury layoff.

Draper's Statement

"Devastated to share that I have had to withdraw from my first round match due to a recurrence of my arm injury," Draper said in a statement.

"There have been a lot of painful moments in the last 12 months but this one is definitely the absolute worst as there is no greater honour for a British player than playing at Wimbledon," he added.
