"I felt like I was really trying to feed off it - it was an incredible atmosphere out there," said Dart.

"I love to play on big stages and to be able to play here on No.1 Court again was really incredible."

Norrie's Five-Set Exit

British No. 1 and 26th seed Cameron Norrie also exited in the first round, losing a five-set match to American qualifier Michael Zheng 6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-6 (4).

Zheng hit 21 aces and 74 winners to secure the victory on his tournament debut.

"If I could have had a few more matches leading in, I think I can win this match," said Norrie.

"There were so many small moments in the match that he did really well to go on his side.

So, yeah, credit to him."

Norrie had recently recovered from a rib injury that affected his clay-court season and praised the athletic performance of his opponent.

"I fought really hard," said Norrie. "I felt the desire, the hunger, which is important.
