Disclosures Reveal Trump Call Before Settlement

Court documents revealed that President Donald Trump spoke with Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino in February 2026, shortly before the Justice Department finalized a surprise antitrust settlement.

The federal government and numerous states originally sued Live Nation in 2024 for allegedly monopolizing the live entertainment industry through anticompetitive venue and ticketing controls.

It emphasized that its independent legal challenges would align with the framework established by federal regulators.

The Justice Department defended the settlement as a superior outcome providing immediate advantages for all stakeholders.

“Through the talent of its trial team, the Antitrust Division reached a settlement on Live Nation that improves upon and exceeds the outcomes of prior Republican and Democrat administrations.

Specifically, this deal has something for fans, artists, and venue owners,” an official said.

The agency added that avoiding prolonged legal battles was central to protecting consumers from ongoing financial harm.
