"We're aware of the pressures in and around the game," Jones said. "The game needs more money hence the recapitalisation project [with the NRL]."

Jones expressed confidence in the negotiations, stating that previous disagreements have been resolved.

"We've presented them with our northern hemisphere strategy documents this week," he revealed.

"There were some red lines between us both but the time we spent in Australia [in May] has got us beyond those."

The event also highlighted the venue's versatility beyond football, with Everton's cooperation following the successful Ashes fixture.

"I think it was a leap of faith by Everton for that Ashes fixture but they also wanted to make a statement that they weren't just a football club," Jones added.

Organizers believe the record attendance has shifted internal discussions about the event's long-term viability.

"Every club will walk away this year with more money than they have done in previous years," Jones said.

"There was a debate about its future and I think we've certainly turned that debate into a proactive discussion now about the longevity of the Magic Weekend."
