Smartphones have given him a new way to reconnect with nature.

"I love to be close to nature, so I was always drawn to macro photography and animals and pets," Sheriff says.

During a trip back to his home in Kerala, Sheriff captured a remarkable image of his pet fish.

After sleeping most of the day, he woke up and headed to his balcony to photograph one of his crowntail betta fish.

He filled a white ceramic bowl with water and carefully placed the fish inside. Then, he turned his phone upside down and submerged it in the water.

Using zoom and macro mode, he captured the intricate details of the fish's crown-like fins.

"I really like taking low-angle or eye-level shots of animals; it allows us to get to know them better," Sheriff adds.

He hopes his image will inspire wonder and curiosity in those who see it.
