Youth and International Engagement

Educational efforts also continue at the Kids Zone midway through the Little Pro Rodeo organization, which introduces youth to basic agricultural practices.

Founder Nikky Passmore stated that the group focuses on connecting different communities while explaining the practical background of traditional sports.

"We’re bridging the gap between the urban and the rural," said Passmore.

Passmore noted that her team travels extensively to showcase these events as both competitive sports and essential daily ranch work.

"We travel to fairs and festivals not only in Alberta but across the country.

We are showcasing rodeo as the sport as well as the ranching purpose behind it," said Passmore.

She explained the specific operational utility of traditional ranch tasks that are featured during the exhibition.

"So, explaining, you know, tie-down roping has a purpose on the ranch.

It’s showcased in rodeo so that we can have a little bit of fun with it," said Passmore.

Participating youth, including seven-year-old Lawreena Safi who wore western gear alongside her 11-year-old brother Ozair, expressed excitement about the interactive activities.

"I love being a cowgirl," said Safi.

International visitors Maeva Quesada and Eliot Venturini from France, who spent the past year working on various Alberta ranches, attended the grounds to see the western traditions.

"The rodeo is insane. So, we really enjoy it a lot," said Quesada.

Venturini agreed that the province provides an ideal setting to witness historical frontier traditions.

"Alberta is the best place for us for the Western culture," said Venturini.

The daily schedule featured freestyle motocross, the Stampede Showband, and the High Dive Show near the Grand Staircase, alongside afternoon rodeo events at 1:30 p.
