A rare signed 1979 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card has drawn a $264,000 bid in the Fanatics Collect May Premier Auction.
The card holds a PSA 9 grade and a 10 Autograph rating, a combination that makes it one of the rarest signed examples of the hockey legend known as "The Great One."

According to Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) data, only 95 copies of the 1979 O-Pee-Chee Gretzky card have ever achieved a PSA 9 grade.
Among those, this auction lot is the only signed example.
Only two unsigned versions of the card have reached a higher PSA 10 grade.

Because this signed card has never appeared in a public sale before, collectors have no prior pricing history to guide their bids.
The bidding surge comes as Gretzky remains active in the public eye. He is currently working as a studio analyst for TNT during the Stanley Cup Playoffs coverage.
The auction provides a fresh market valuation for the iconic 1979 card.
