BMW's Vision Alpina concept, unveiled at Villa d'Este, signals a bold shift toward bespoke luxury, directly challenging Bentley.
A new rendering transforms the coupe into a shooting brake, emphasizing its grand-touring potential.

Shooting Brake Design
The original Vision Alpina coupe measures 204.7 inches (5,200 mm) in length.
The rendering extends it further, adding a stretched glasshouse and a tapered rear roof for a classic shooting brake silhouette.
Key design elements like the forward-leaning twin-kidney grille and sculpted hood remain. Chrome detailing has been added to reinforce the luxury theme.
The rear features thin horizontal taillights and a Range Rover-style split tailgate. Pronounced rear haunches and a strong shoulder line increase visual tension.
V8 Power and Hybrid Assist
Unlike many modern concepts, the Vision Alpina retains a V8 engine.
BMW design boss Adrian van Hooydonk confirmed the concept uses the platform of the discontinued 8-Series Gran Coupe.
A production version would likely use an uprated twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 from the M5, paired with a plug-in hybrid system.

Total output could reach at least 727 hp (535 kW) and 1,000 Nm of torque.
The hybrid system's 18.6 kWh battery offers around 25 miles (40 km) of electric range, which could improve with the Alpina's aerodynamic styling.
Luxurious and Practical Interior
The shooting brake's extra length allows for a practical five-seat layout with over 21 cubic feet (600 liters) of cargo space.
The cabin features leather, chrome hooks, tie-downs, and power outlets.
Inside, a revised BMW Panoramic iDrive display includes a symmetrical central screen and Alpina-specific graphics.
Crystal controls, rich leather, polished surfaces, and Art Deco ambient lighting define the luxury atmosphere.
If Alpina enters the luxury shooting brake segment, it would face few direct competitors.

The Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo and limited Genesis G90 Wingback concept exist, but Alpina's offering could sit above them as a bespoke grand tourer with Bentley-level cabin quality.
