The 51-year-old DJ takes over the morning program following the dismissal of former host Scott Mills amid a police investigation.
Cox will succeed interim host Gary Davies, who filled the vacancy after Mills was removed from the airwaves.
Cox has hosted the station's 4pm to 7pm teatime slot since 2018 before her new role was announced in April.
Speaking to The Times, she expressed confidence in managing the high-profile transition.
"It's huge, but I'm ready," Cox said.
She explained her strategy for managing pre-show excitement: "I might have to bury my phone in my neighbour's sandpit a couple of days before because I don't like people texting me good luck, but the minute I open my mic, I'll be fine."
Reflecting on her career, Cox noted her experience underpins her readiness. "I'm not nervous because I know I can do a good job.
I don't want to sound arrogant, but I've been doing radio for 28 years now," she said.
The presenter also detailed her motivations for seeking a new milestone after seven years on her evening program.
