Underneath, the truck rides on Ford's new Universal EV platform, developed by an in-house skunkworks team.

The architecture uses large aluminum unicastings, offering a 27% weight advantage over rivals. It reduces parts by 20%, fasteners by 25%, and factory workstations by 40%.

The 48-volt low-voltage system has a wiring harness that is 4,000 feet shorter and 10 kg lighter than Ford's first-generation EVs.

Ford has not yet revealed details about the electric motors or battery pack, but the truck will use a cost-effective Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery to keep the starting price near $30,000.

More information is expected ahead of the 2027 debut. Earlier reports suggest the model could revive the historic Ranchero nameplate, though Ford has not confirmed this.
